The HEART College of Innovation and Technology is an institution owned by HEART Trust

NTA, the largest vocational education and training company in Jamaica. The HEART College

of Innovation and Technology provides Jamaica with training to pursue a rewarding career

in the dynamic Information Technology field. As such, HCIT is equipped to offer end-to-end

technology-based solutions to organizations of any size, in any industry. INNOVEC is a newly created arm of the HEART College of Innovation and Technology that is focused on business solutions. delivering next-generation connectivity and IT solutions, this facet of the company aims to expand the horizon of possibilities for their clients, enabling them(the clients) to create and capitalize on new opportunities. My time was equally divided between marketing internally for HCIT and their external arm, INNOVEC. As an intern, my duties ranged from message design to research to writing for social media to video shooting and editing.

One of my assignments at INNOVEC was to help small construction company in creating their brand identity. This included creating the logo, slogan, banners for the website

and social media, business cards, promotional products etc. for The Perfect Handy Man.

In the following assignment, I was in charge of conceptualizing and designing a graphic for

print/ online usage for HCIT. The institution requested an advertisement that would juxtapose the major issues of a third world country with the solution an educational/ vocational training institution can provide.

One of my duties was a sort of social media correspondent for INNOVEC, as such I was

responsible for the creation of a new blog and create posts to be approved by the bigger heads at a later date. As a subsidiary of HEART Trust NTA, there are several legal stipulations social media posts from HCIT and any other HEART school must follow. As such all posting is done from one central local, the head office in Kingston. There has been little or no online presence for both HCIT and INNOVEC. For a school that is encouraging the exploitation of technology and new media and for a business solutions company to not explore this avenue of advertising themselves is unacceptable. My recommendation for HEART was to draw up a social media template that adheres to the strict legal stipulations they wish to follow and train members of the different schools how to keep their own social media page.... or to be more proactive when updating all the pages.
